The Tikka T3 is the best action you can get for the money.  If you want a smooth rifle but you don’t want to build a custom rifle the Tikka it the perfect rifle for you.  The Achilles heal of the tikka action is the extremely heavy bolt lift.  This may vary from rifle to rifle and even from shot to shot.  There are several friction surfaces in the Tikka bold, and none more over looked than the firing pin spring.  When cocking the rifle the spring is forced to twist or slide at one end.  The ends of the firing pin spring are rough cut and this can cause a lot of friction on some rifles.  The addition of a thrust bearing makes this glassy smooth every time.  This means that almost all of the force put into the bolt goes to compressing the spring and is not lost to friction.
